This gut-wrenching collapse handed Linn Grant victory on the DP World Tour…

Sebastian Soderberg held an eight-shot lead after 54 holes at the Scandinavian Mixed, but played his last six holes in four-over to surrender the win in shocking fashion…

A quite staggering back-nine collapse by Sebastian Soberberg handed Linn Grant another victory in the Scandinavian Mixed on the DP World Tour.

Having led by eight shots after 54 holes at Vasatorps Golfklubb in Sweden, not to mention leading Grant by 11 shots at the start of the final round, Soberberg played his last six holes in four-over to surrender the title in shocking fashion.

Grant completed the largest final-round comeback win in the history of the DP World Tour.

His collapse culminated in a short missed putt on the 72nd hole for a playoff where the ball horse-shoed around the cup and stayed out. Grant was on the driving range in Helsingborg when she discovered she’d won the event for the second time in three years, as Soderberg appeared crestfallen.

“I’m so surprised,” Grant said. “Standing here, now as a winner again in my hometown. Amazing.” The 24-year-old became the first-ever female winner on the DP World Tour at this event two years ago. She also has one win on the LPGA Tour.

Sebastian Soderberg squanders eight-shot lead at Scandinavian Mixed

“Honestly I just tried to go out today and give myself an opportunity. I didn’t even think that I had the chance of winning – 11 shots is a huge gap,” she added. “So I just wanted to go out, have fun and make as many birdies as possible. And enjoy it with my brother on the bag and being at home. It turned out to be an incredible day.”

Poised to win his second DP World Tour title, Soderberg made two birdies and two bogeys in his first seven holes, and a third bogey on hole 8 brought him a little closer to the field.

Grant was in scintillating form in front of her home crowd on Sunday. She made six birdies in 10 holes and chipped in for another birdie on the 18th hole to set a clubhouse target of 17-under.

Soberberg found the fairway on the par-4 18th hole with a one-shot lead on 18-under, but his second shot plugged into a greenside bunker. He went on to make a six and shot a 77. Grant won with a 65.

“It’s amazing playing on home soil and seeing a lot of players play so well. I think it shows all the fans coming out here that we really enjoy playing at home. We’re all very happy at the moment. Just finding a way to celebrate tonight and have a nice week off.”
