Frequently Asked Questions about the Chevron Championship

When and where will the Chevron Championship take place?

The 2024 edition of the Chevron Championship will be held at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at the venue will play host, with the tournament being held from April 18-21.

Who won last year’s Chevron Championship?

American Lilia Vu was the victor at Carlton Woods, as she claimed her maiden major championship victory. She finished on 10-under, and then defeated compatriot Angel Yin on the first playoff hole to take the title.

What is the history around the tournament?

The Chevron Championship dates back to 1972, when David Foster and Dinah Shore founded the tournament, with the original name of the event featuring the latter.

The original name was the Colgate-Dinah Shore Winner’s Circle, and for the first decade, it was just a normal LPGA Tour event. The competition received major championship status for the 1982 edition, and was officially known as the Nabisco Dinah Shore.

1999 saw Dottie Pepper set the record for the lowest aggregate score and the lowest score to par. She finished 19-under with an aggregate of 269. A year later, Australian Karrie Webb set the record for the biggest winning margin, taking the title by a whopping ten shots.

The 2000 edition was the first to be called the Nabisco Championship, with the event also being called the Kraft Nabisco Championship and the ANA Inspirational since the turn of the 21st Century.

The tournament became known as the Chevron Championship (due to sponsorship reasons) for the 2022 edition. That would also be the last at Mission Hills, which had hosted the competition since its inception five decades earlier.

The 2023 edition of the Chevron Championship was hosted at The Club at Carlton Woods, and the tournament continues to be played on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course.

Amy Alcott, Betsy King and Annika Sorenstam have all won the tournament three times, while Juli Inkster, Dottie Pepper, Karrie Webb and Brittany Lincicombe are all two-time winners of the Chevron.

How do golfers qualify for to play in the event?

As the first major of the 2024 season, the qualifying criteria are somewhat different to most normal LPGA Tour events. Like the Masters, all previous winners are permitted to play, along with major winners and LPGA Tour winners.

He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!).
