It already has one great course, but Cabot Highlands is about to open another 18-hole classic…

Cabot Highlands Old Petty

Cabot has released the first images of Old Petty, its much-anticipated new golf course designed by Tom Doak at Cabot Highlands in Scotland, since seeding was completed and the grass has taken root.

It will be the second 18-hole layout at the venue, joining the Castle Stuart Course, which played host to the Scottish Open on the DP World Tour on multiple occasions.

Located adjacent to the historic Old Petty Church and enjoying views of the 400-year-old Castle Stuart from 13 of its 18 holes, the course is set to open for preview play from August 1 to September 30, 2025.

Old Petty has been routed to embrace the natural drama of the land, with opening and closing holes that criss-cross fairways near the clubhouse and key features like a short par-3 17th hole, dramatic coastline vistas on the 10th, and a return to the Moray Firth on the 14th.

The course has been brought to life by Tom Doak, alongside associate Clyde Johnson, ensuring a layout that blends seamlessly with its Highlands surroundings.

“We are so excited to be sharing this first glimpse of Old Petty,” said Ben Cowan-Dewar, CEO and co-founder of Cabot. “From the outset, our vision has been to honour the land and its rich history while crafting an unforgettable golf experience that adds to the reputation of Castle Stuart. Old Petty is a course that will surprise, challenge and inspire, true to the spirit of the Highlands.”

How can you play the Old Petty early?

Cabot Highlands will offer a walking-only playing experience on Old Petty during the preview window, with tee times available in collaboration with bookings made on the Castle Stuart Course at Cabot Highlands.

Preview green fees are priced at £190, with the Castle Stuart course priced at £330, providing an exceptional opportunity to play both world-class courses at Cabot Highlands in summer 2025.

Cabot Highlands officially reopened for the 2025 season on March 31st, with bookings available throughout the remainder of the year on the Castle Stuart course and during the preview play period on Old Petty available at www.cabothighlands.com.
