Carlos Ortiz is one of Mexico’s brightest talents, and a winner on both the PGA Tour and in the LIV Golf League.
Born in April 1991 in Guadalajara, Ortiz grew up playing the game, first picking up a set of golf clubs at the age of just 3. He would learn his trade at the local Country Club, where LPGA Tour legend Lorena Ochoa was also a member. Ortiz graduated from the University of North Texas in 2013, and he continues to reside in the state to this day.
Three wins on the Web.com Tour in his first full season saw him take home the Web.com Tour Player of the Year award for 2014, and he would soon make the jump to the PGA Tour. He would have to wait six years before securing a first PGA win, though, with that coming at home at the Vivint Houston Open.
Ortiz was one of several Latin American golfers to make the jump to the LIV Golf League, and after winning in the International Series in Oman at the start of 2024, he went on to claim his first LIV Golf win later that year. The victory also came in his home state, at LIV Golf Houston, winning for the eighth time in his professional career.

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club.
