What watches do golf’s biggest stars wear and how much do they cost?

A common feature of a trophy-giving ceremony in golf, other than the actual trophy, is the pricey timepiece that is wrapped around the wrist of the winner…

Golfers like watches. They like them a lot.

If you were inclined to look, you would notice that in trophy presentations at virtually any PGA Tour, DP World Tour or LIV Golf event, the likelihood of a lovely, shiny timepiece being welded around the wrist of the winner is as inevitable as the trophy itself.

Companies like Rolex, Omega and TAG Heuer have a longstanding presence in the game. They sponsor events and have their names and logos plastered over advertisement boards at every turn.

You have the Rolex Series on the DP World Tour, which refers to a handful of events that feature elevated purses. Then, you have the Omega European Masters held in Switzerland. But you could go back decades with their association in America and Europe.

These are just a couple of examples. What these companies also do is swiftly sign up the game’s biggest names to ambassador deals, and so these watches can be found in the hands of golfers as regularly as the trophies themselves.

Below, we explore which watches tickle the fancy of golf’s biggest names…

Watches worn by golfers

Rory McIlroy

The more eagle-eyed viewers among us, plus those of you watch nerds, will have spotted that McIlroy was wearing an Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy when he won the Masters in 2025. This is a limited-edition piece from 2020 that marked the 50th anniversary of NASA recognising the Omega Speedmaster helping the Apollo 13 crew home with a Silver Snoopy award in 1970.

Snoopy’s association with this watch began in the 1960s when the creator Charles M Schulz began drawing the cartoon dog in space. He was adopted as Nasa’s safety mascot. You learn something new every day, right?

A 2015 Speedmaster Moonwatch Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award in steel was valued at £18,000 six years ago, so that might give you a steer on what this timepiece set McIlroy back.

Scottie Scheffler

When Scottie Scheffler cruised to victory at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush, he was donning a Rolex Submariner, which can cost up to $43,000 depending on which model you care to wear.

Scheffler’s watch has been dubbed ‘the Starbucks’ by fans for its green and black colour pattern. You will find it has a 41mm case and is forged in Oystersteel, which we understand is a strong and corrosion-resistant alloy.

At Scheffler’s first Champions Dinner at the Masters in 2023, the Texan enjoyed wearing the Rolex GMT-Master II, crafted in Everose Rolesor, which is a combination of Oystersteel and Rolex’s proprietary 18 ct rose gold. This can cost up to $95,000.

Ludvig Aberg

The best moment of Ludvig Aberg’s career so far, individually and away from the Ryder Cup, was winning the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines.

On this occasion, the Swedish star had a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona wrapped around him. This watch was first launched in 1963 and is described by Rolex itself as a ‘true icon’.

This model can cost over $18,000, too. Aberg became a Rolex Testimonee in 2023, the year when he made his debut for the European Ryder Cup team and burst onto the scene for the first time as a professional.

Jon Rahm

We are talking about another former Masters champion in Jon Rahm here. When he put on his Green Jacket in 2023, with the help of Scheffler, he wore a white Rolex Sky Dweller. He also wore it when he won his first major title at the 2021 US Open at Torrey Pines.

This particular model was made with a 42mm case of Oystersteel and white gold. It also has a bright blue dial with an off-centre 24-hour ring. It is quite the achievement in manufacturing, as are all of these pieces.

If Rahm had to pay for this (almost certainly not), it could have set him back up to $65,000. The Spaniard has been a Rolex man since 2016. How quickly has that decade flown by?

Bryson DeChambeau

We have another Rolex man on our hands here with two-time US Open champion and LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau. When he beat McIlroy in a memorable battle at Pinehurst in 2024, he was wearing a two-tone Submariner Bluesy watch. This was first unveiled by Rolex in 1984.

However, DeChambeau’s watch was part of a collection released in 2020, the year in which he won his first US Open title at Winged Foot. It is powered by a modern automatic movement that provides an increased power reserve of around 70 hours.

This one can cost up to $19,000 as well. We understand that this two-tone style is like Marmite among watch enthusiasts: you love or hate it. You certainly wouldn’t hear me complaining if I could own it.

Tommy Fleetwood

Now, it seems Tommy Fleetwood has a very different approach when it comes to watches, if the images that followed his maiden victory on the PGA Tour back in August 2025 are anything to go by.

Instead of the luxury models that we have previously seen from Rolex and Omega, the Englishman was wearing the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 watch in its golf edition. The website says it once cost $1,500, which is a fraction of the prices we have discussed above.

When it was available to consumers, you could purchase it in a lightweight 42mm or 45mm titanium case, and it included features such as 3D mapping for over 40,000 courses. It specialised in being a caddie as much as being a timekeeper. Be on the lookout at Fleetwood’s next trophy ceremony to see which watch he might be wearing next.
