Titleist TruFeel Golf Ball Review: NCG Summary

4.5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

The latest Titleist TruFeel did seriously impress me and even exceeded some of the expectations I had for it. It features a True Touch core and a new 3.0 TruFlex cover, this two-piece golf ball offers durability and a surprisingly decent spin performance at lower swing speeds.

While it may not suit high-speed swingers due to lower ball speed and reduced control on full shots, it remains a solid option for those looking for a soft, forgiving golf ball at an affordable price.

PROS

  • Quick ball speeds off the driver
  • Loads of forgiveness
  • Affordable price

CONS

  • Not as suitable for quick swinging golfers

First Impressions

This isn’t the normal style of ball I play, but I’ve never really hit one to find out why. The Titleist TruFeel is the type of ball that a lot of the players I coach will play for longer distances, so it’s absolutely worth me knowing how it feels and how it performs.

NCG Review

The TruFeel lives up to its name. It offers a noticeably soft feel across all clubs. However, compared to premium multi-layer balls, I did think it does lack a certain “crispness,” particularly on putts and wedge shots. Players accustomed to firmer balls may find the feedback of the club face muted somewhat, but for those wanting extra softness, it certainly delivers that.

Titleist TruFeel Golf Ball Review: Truly Exceeded All My Expectations!

I found the spin performance around the greens to be better than expected. On wedge shots it was surprisingly impressive. I was able to produce close to 7000 RPM of backspin. It also performed only slightly below a premium tour ball, making it a viable option for those who rely on spin around the greens.

Titleist TruFeel Golf Ball Review: Truly Exceeded All My Expectations!

With a seven-iron, the ball produced a ball speed of 115 mph and spin rates of around 5600 RPM, which I found to be relatively low. This means shots tended to roll out more upon landing, but also reducing stopping power on approach shots. It was a pretty mixed bag with a mid-iron in hand.

Off the driver, the ball speed averaged at 153 mph, with distances of 271 yards carry and a total yardage of 290. While respectable, higher swing-speed players might find they over-compress the ball, leading to a loss of efficiency.

Titleist TruFeel Golf Ball Review: Truly Exceeded All My Expectations!

Overall, the Titleist TruFeel is an excellent entry-level golf ball for players who prioritise soft feel, durability, and affordability. While I think it lacks the control and spin of premium options at higher speeds, it performs well in the short game and offers surprising value for money.

If you’re a slower swinger or a casual golfer looking for Titleist quality at a lower price, this ball is definitely worth considering.
