In a market packed with high-performance golf balls, the Srixon UltiSoft quietly carves out a niche for players seeking the ultimate feel without breaking the bank. But how does the softest ball in Srixon’s line up actually perform? Find out in our Srixon UltiSoft golf ball review…

Srixon UltiSoft Golf Ball Review: NCG Summary

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

This ball delivers on its promise of softness—and then some. It certainly is the ultimate soft golf ball option and has an almost marshmallow feel off the club face.

This isn’t a tour-level ball, nor is it pretending to be. It’s tailored for slower swing speeds and golfers who crave distance without sacrificing feel. Srixon have identified the audience for this golf ball and delivered an exceptional option for it.

PROS

  • Consistent performance from tee to green
  • Great feel and distance
  • Perfect for golfers with moderate to slow swing speeds

First Impressions

This is the lowest compression golf ball in Srixon’s line-up and that translates into a soft marshmallow feeling. The actual compression was 42, which is really low so it was interesting to see how it would perform across a range of different shots.

NCG Review

Despite being a two-piece ball with an ionomer cover, not urethane one like more premium models, the UltiSoft still impresses with Srixon’s FastLayer Core technology. The core is soft in the centre and firms up toward the edges, mimicking the performance traits of a multi-layer ball. This design gives it a little more playability around the greens than you’d expect at this price point.

I found the spin rates to be surprisingly respectable, particularly off the wedge, which was spinning close to 7000 RPM. This is a figure that I find usually reserved for more premium constructed golf balls.

Off the 7-iron, the spin was around 5000 RPM with a ball speed of 114 mph. This resulted in a carry of 162 yards and total of 172 yards. For me that’s solid territory for a ball aimed at the average club golfer.

With the driver, the ball continued to show its low-spin DNA. I struggled to break 2000 RPM, but this did result in a healthy total distance. I was able to reach an average 263 yard carry and a run-out of nearly 290 yards. That’s seriously impressive for a soft, value-driven option. I was impressed.

Srixon UltiSoft golf ball review

What stood out to me during testing was how hard the UltiSoft works for the player. It’s not just soft for the sake of it, this also translates into performance. Around the greens, it gives the impression it’s going to stop, thanks to the feel, even if in reality it won’t check up like a premium urethane-covered ball. But for its category, I think it’s outstanding.

Faster swingers might find it too hot when launching with not enough control, particularly into firm greens. But that’s missing the point. This ball isn’t aimed at single-figure players chasing spin—it’s for the everyday golfer who wants distance and soft feel without sacrificing too much short-game performance. It does well at achieving this.

Srixon UltiSoft golf ball review

The Srixon UltiSoft doesn’t try to be all things to all golfers, but for the player it is designed for, it’s close to perfect. I think it’s long, incredibly soft, and offers more control than you’d expect from a two-piece construction. If you swing it smooth and like the feel of a softer ball, the UltiSoft might just be your new go-to.
