Robert MacIntyre is the leading Scotsman in the game of golf, with the left-hander being a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.
After winning in what was just his second professional event, claiming the title at the Sahara Kuwait Championship, MacIntyre progressed to the European Challenge Tour, and then the DP World Tour for the 2019 season. He had two runners-up finishes that year, along with finishing T6 at the Open Championship, in his first major appearance.
MacIntyre claimed a maiden DP World Tour victory in 2020, winning the unique Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown. Two years later, the Scot won again, taking victory at the DS Automobiles Italian Open at Marco Simone. After making the move to the , he was victorious at the in 2024, with his father on the bag for him that week. Later that year, MacIntyre took an emotional victory on home soil at the , becoming the first Scot to win the title since 1999. He then won again on home soil a year later, taking victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, seven days on from helping Team Europe win the at Bethpage Black.
That was MacIntyre’s second appearance in the sport’s biggest team competition. His first came at Marco Simone in 2023, where he became the first Scot to play for Team Europe since Stephen Gallacher had done so nine years prior at Gleneagles.

“I live on the golf course with my parents, they’re still there. It’s so relaxed, it’s actually too relaxed, but I wouldn’t move from there. It’s too comfortable in Oban, it’s just the lifestyle. It’s a great place to be brought up and live. For now, my heart’s set in Oban”

Winning With Dad
Talking of Dougie, MacIntyre’s old man saved the day at the RBC Canadian Open in 2024. MacIntyre phoned home on the Saturday evening before the tournament, in need of a looper. Father Dougie got the next flight to Canada on Sunday morning, and incredibly, the pair would go on to win the tournament, giving MacIntyre his first PGA Tour victory.
Shinty Swings
During his teenage years, MacIntyre played for Oman Camanachd, and attributes playing shinty as a key help for his golf swing: “The hand-eye coordination in my golf has come from my shinty. I’ve been hitting a shinty ball since I could walk. It was just instinctive and the majority of my golf game is like that. Tee to green you’ve got to hit it good, and shinty encourages the motion of a golf swing.”
Course Record On First Professional Outing
In his first professional tournament, the Jordan’s Ayla Golf Championship on the MENA Tour, MacIntyre shot a course record in the third round, showing off the qualities he had from the beginning of his career.
