Zero-torque putters are no longer consider to be outliers in the golf world. Plenty of tour professionals have now adopted them into their bags.

It is the same story at golf clubs up and down the country with a greater focus being put on finding clubs that are going to help keep the club face square at impact.

PXG’s answer to this demand is the Hot Rod ZT putter. It is a centre-shafted mallet built around what the brand calls a True Zero Torque Design.

So, how have they achieved this True Zero Torque Design? Here’s a closer look…

PXG Hot Rod ZT Putter: The Technology

At the heart of the Hot Rod ZT is its zero torque construction. By positioning the centre of gravity just below the shaft axis, PXG has reduced the twisting forces that typically cause a putter face to rotate during the stroke.

The aim of this is to improve stability, create greater consistency and a more repeatable stroke with minimal hand manipulation.

As you may have guessed from its zero-torque nature, PXG has equipped this with a modern mallet shape design. This isn’t uncommon for PXG putters, in fact most of them have a futuristic look to them that you don’t get from many other brands.

They believe this design helps to frame the ball more cleanly at address. The putter head is precision-milled from 6061 aluminium, allowing weight to be positioned with greater accuracy.

Four interchangeable sole weights combine with concealed high-density tungsten to increase forgiveness and stability.

The adjustability doesn’t stop there as the head weight can be changed from 340g to 410g to help dial in the feel of the putter and help to correct bias tendencies.

PXG has also equipped the Hot Rod ZT with their Pyramid Milled Face Pattern technology. It is designed to help improve the performance at impact between the putter face and the golf ball.
