Cobra has been a big force behind the push towards 3D putters over recent years, establishing themselves as one of the most progressive golf club manufacturers when it comes to the practice.

3D printed golf clubs have been popular with a lot of golfers, especially when it comes to irons. Cobra has also seen plenty of success with 3D putters and are looking to build upon the public affection of the LIMIT3D putters.

The 3DP Tour range incorporates a 3D-printed construction with tour inspired shaping in what is a performance-driven putter line-up.

Cobra has looked to push the boundaries and scope the full potential of 3D printing to deliver what is their most stable, forgiving and technologically advanced putter range yet.

Here’s a closer look at Cobra 3DP Tour putters and what goes into their development…

Cobra 3DP Tour Putters: The Technology

The defining feature of the 3DP Tour putters is, of course, Cobra’s use of advanced 3D printing.

Cobra continue to be a leading light in this field. They believe that using this form of construction allows them to create complex internal geometries that would be impossible to manufacture using traditional casting or milling methods.

A lightweight 3D-printed nylon cartridge forms part of the internal structure of the head. It forms the upper and mid-sections of the putter, along with the carbon fibre crown which significantly reduces the weight.

That saved mass is then repositioned lower and farther from the face, which increases stability and resistance to twisting during the stroke.

Each 3DP Tour putter uses four distinct materials, with each one performing a specific role.

The carbon fibre crown reduces unnecessary mass high in the head. The 3D-printed nylon cartridge enables precise internal shaping. The 304 stainless steel body provides structure, durability and feel. And, the Tungsten sole weights lower the centre of gravity and push mass toward the perimeter.

Together, these materials allow Cobra to precisely control centre of gravity placement and maximise MOI in a way that is not possible with a single-material design.

Every 3DP Tour putter also features a fully milled 304 stainless steel face.

This produces the crisp sound, consistent feedback and responsive feel that tour players ultimately demand from their flat stick.

It helps to deliver what is a premium feel that matches its advanced construction.

Integrated into the face is LA Golf’s Descending Loft Technology.

The face features four lofts that progress from 4° at the top of the face to 1° at the bottom. It is a design that is introduction to help combat golfers from common shortcomings they face on the greens. This includes, adding loft or de-lofting the putter at impact.

The design encourages a more consistent launch conditions and improved end-over-end roll. No matter how the putter is delivered into the ball, this is to be promoted.
