You’ve seen Hovland’s new irons – but what are they? Ping can finally reveal all
Hannah Holden has the lowdown on the new Ping i59 irons
You’ll have seen these in Viktor Hovland’s bag recently as a prototype iron, but now we can get a closer look at the all-new Ping i59 model.
Ping i59 irons: First impressions
Well, I think we can all agree these are some seriously good looking irons! They need to be seen in person to be fully admired. Ping have done a really great job with the shaping here and I really like the sharp, blade-like lines in the back of the club head.
These have come into replace the iBlade and Ping made sure these had a tour-preferred feel and style. That means when it comes to blade size these are rather on the small side.
Ping i59 irons: The technology
The iron is a three-piece forged design. The core is aerospace-grade aluminium and is surrounded by a steel body and laser-cut face. This fully machined face helps improve control and consistency from all conditions.
Each iron has a unique aluminium insert to help dial in the correct trajectory for each club in the bag. we also see tungsten toe and heel weights help increase forgiveness.
The club is finished with a water repelling Hydropearl 2.0 finish.
