US Women’s Open Golf Betting Tips

Major season continues with the US Women’s Open, but who are our betting tips for the second major of the women’s golf season?

The major season is well and truly underway, but who are betting tips for the second women’s major of the golf season – the US Women’s Open?

We’ve seen Scottie Scheffler win the Masters, Nelly Korda victorious at the Chevron Championship and Xander Schauffele take a maiden major at the PGA Championship.

The US Women’s Open is the second women’s major (and fourth major) championship of the season, but who will be victorious at Lancaster Country Club?

Obviously, the World No 1 is the clear favourite and the woman to beat… Can defending champion Allisen Corpuz go back-to-back? Could we see a young prodigy, like Rose Zhang, take their first major?

Who will win? Matt Coles takes a look at some of his favourites for the second women’s major of the year…

US Women’s Open golf betting tips and preview

Defending champion: Allisen Corpuz (-9)

Nelly Korda @ 7/2 with bet365

She is the favourite for a reason. Well, plenty of reasons!

Nelly Korda Chevron Championship golf betting tips

Korda has been in the best form of any golfer on the planet over the first few months of 2024. She six wins in her last seven tournaments, with her only “failure” seeing her come home in a tie for 7th at the Cognizant Founders Cup.

The American won the LPGA Drive On Championship at the end of January, before taking almost two months off. Korda returned with victories at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, Ford Championship presented by KCC and the T-Mobile Match Play by MGM Rewards, all in consecutive weeks.

That was backed up with her second major title as she won the Chevron Championship to make it five consecutive wins on tour. The Mizuho Americas Open was also added to the trophy cabinet to give her six wins in less than five months.

In the process, she moved back to the summit of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. She is by far and away the favourite to win the opening major of the season, sitting at just 7/2.

Brooke Henderson @ 25/1 with bet365

The leading Canadian on the LPGA Tour is one of my picks this week, as she has major form and played well at Lancaster Country Club back in 2015.

Brooke Henderson player profile

She was one of the challengers to Korda on the final day of the Chevron Championship earlier this season, eventually finishing in a tie for 3rd. Henderson also finished inside the top ten at the 2015 US Women’s Open at Lancaster.

The Canadian is currently 25/1 to win the Chevron Championship this week, for what would be a second major title, and a first in eight years.

Gabriela Ruffels @ 45/1 with bet365

Could this finally be the time that Charley Hull breaks down the major door, one that she has knocked on plenty of ties in the past?

The Englishwoman finished runner-up at both the US Women’s Open and the AIG Women’s Open in 2023, and has also come close at the Chevron. She came home T2 at the ANA in the year that Lydia Ko took the victory.

Could Hull become just the third English golfer to win a women’s major this century? She is currently 45/1 to do so this week in Texas.

Maja Stark @ 66/1 with bet365

With a trio of top-three finishes in her last five events, Maja Stark is one of the most in-form players in women’s golf right now.

Maja Stark player profile

She started the LPGA Tour season slowly the Solheim Cup star has exploded into contention in recent weeks. Her good run started with a T3 finish at the Ford Championship presented by KCC.

That continued into the first women’s major of the season – the Chevron Championship. She finished runner-up behind Nelly Korda, and then also finished 2nd a week later at the JM Eagle LA Championship.

At 66/1, Stark might be considered an outside bet, but with the run of form the Swede is in, she’s certainly worth a few quid this week at Lancaster.

Alexandra Forsterling @ 125/1 each way with bet365

Germany’s Alexandra Forsterling is my outside bet this week, and again, it’s another European in red-hot form.

The German has won four times in the Ladies European Tour in the last ten months, including wins in the Aramco Team Series and on home soil at the Amundi German Masters.

Forsterling is a name that is yet to break out on the LPGA Tour, but could this be the week for Forsterling? She is 125/1 for victory in Pennsylvania.

Other Big Name Odds

22/1 – Atthaya Thitikul, Jin Young Ko
25/1 – Hannah Green, Nasa Hataoka, Ayaka Furue

Matt Coles

Matt Coles

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
