This week’s golf features the third senior major of the year, along with action on the PGA Tour, LET, LPGA Tour and DP World Tour, but who are our betting tips?

The PGA Tour‘s offering this week is the Rocket Mortgage Classic – the event where Rickie Fowler made an emotional return to the winners’ circle last year, ending a drought of over four years without a victory.

The US Senior Open is the third senior major of the season, and there will be a star-studded field descending on the Newport Country Club in Rhode Island.

Who will win these tournaments? Matt Coles takes a look at this week’s action…

Rocket Mortgage Classic golf betting tips and preview

Venue: Detroit GC, Detroit, Michigan, United States
Date: June 27-30, 2024
Course stats: Par 72, 7,370 yards
Defending champion: Rickie Fowler (-24)

Akshay Bhatia @ 20/1 with bet365

Akshay Bhatia has been in great form recently! He secured his second PGA Tour title at the Valero Texas Open in April, and has since finished inside the top 25 at his last three tournaments. That run includes a T16 at the US Open, and he also finished in the top five at the Travelers Championship last time out.

Bhatia is the third favourite at the moment with bet365, coming in at 20/1, and with the form he is in, he is surely worth a punt?

Ryan Fox @ 50/1 with bet365

Ryan Fox golf betting tips

If you’re a follower of these tips pages, then you will have seen Ryan Fox‘s name quite a few times over the course of the year. The Kiwi is into his first full season on the PGA Tour, and he has three top-seven finishes in his last seven events. He had last week off following the US Open and Pinehurst No.2, and will be aiming to win for the first time in the United States. Foxy is 50/1 to take the title at Detroit Golf Club this week, but one of our picks for your betting at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.

After missing out in a playoff at the Travelers, Tom Kim is the favourite to win in Detroit at 12/1. Defending champion Rickie Fowler is 45/1 to go back-to-back this week in Detroit.

Venue: Newport Country Club, Rhode Island, United States
Date: June 27-30, 2024
Course stats: Par 70, 7,024 yards
Defending champion: Bernhard Langer (-7)

Lee Westwood @ 7/1 with bet365

Could this be the week that Lee Westwood finally wins a major? He is considered one of the best players never to win a major championship, but could the transition to the senior scene change that? Following on from a solid performance at LIV Golf Nashville last week, Westwood is the third favourite for victory at the US Senior Open in Rhode Island this week. He is currently 7/1 to take the title.

Ernie Els @ 12/1 with bet365

South Africa’s Ernie Els has been in great form on the PGA Champions Tour recently. He won in back-to-back weeks to kick off the month of June, with wins at the Principal Charity Classic and the American Family Insurance Open. He has 11 top-ten finishes in senior majors, but is yet to get over the line. Could he do that this week? 12/1 says the South African will reign supreme at Newport Country Club.

After his victory at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, Englishman Richard Bland is the favourite at 5/1.

What else is going on in the world of golf this week?

There is plenty of other action going on this week.

One of the most historic events on the DP World Tour – the Italian Open – takes place this week. There is also action on both the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour as well, following on from the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Who will take victory at these tournaments? Check out our picks for success below…

Patrick Reed @ 12/1 to win the Italian Open with bet365

Patrick Reed golf betting tips

This is the first of two successive events in Europe that Patrick Reed will feature in, with the American also slated to play in the BMW International Open next week. Reed is currently 20th in the LIV Golf League standings for this season, with a T3 finish in Houston a few weeks back being his best result. He is the favourite for victory in Italy this week, with odds at 12/1.

Henderson/Thompson @ 14/1 to win the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational with bet365

There are some star-studded partnerships on show this week for the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (also known as the Dow Championship). One of those will feature Canada’s Brooke Henderson and American Lexi Thompson. The pair are 14/1 to take the title, but both are playing well. Working as a team, this could be a great week for the duo!

Chiara Tamburlini @ 22/1 to win the VP Swiss Ladies Open with bet365

With my final shout of the week, I am going for a home victor. Chiara Tamburlini has already won this season on the Ladies European Tour, claiming her maiden LET win at the Joburg Ladies Open. Returning to Switzerland, and at 22/1, Tamburlini is a great shout for victory at Golfpark Holzhausern.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
