More information: Seed Golf / Amazon website

The Seed SD-01 is a premium three-piece urethane golf ball that offers impressive all-round performance at a price that will appeal to any golfer looking to save without sacrificing quality. With spin numbers that rival the best in the business, excellent control in the short game, and solid performance throughout the bag, this ball delivers serious value.

For its price, the SD-01 is simply outstanding.

Seed SD-02 Golf Ball

5 star review

More information: Seed Website

The Seed SD-02 promotes good distances off the tee that rival that of other X golf balls, like the Titleist Pro V1x. This is aided by quick ball speeds. The performance levels don’t lower with a shorter club in hand as there is plenty of spin available for a variety of chip shots.

Seed SD-X1 Golf Ball

4.5 star review

More information: Seed Golf / Amazon website

The Seed SD-X1 is a three-piece urethane golf ball designed to deliver tour-level performance at a significantly lower price than its more established competitors. It offers exceptional value for money without compromising on feel or distance. With a mid-to-high compression, the X1 is well-suited to a broad range of club players who want reliable performance off the tee and responsive control around the greens.

Seed may not have the same brand recognition as some of the game’s biggest names, but the SD-05 demonstrates why the direct-to-consumer brand continues to attract attention.

Seed SD-05 Golf Ball

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

Seed describes the SD-05 as their Pro Feel golf ball, and I thought it certainly lived up to its name. With a soft urethane cover, low compression core, and a price point well below the big brands, it’s pitched as a genuine alternative to the likes of the Titleist AVX or Callaway Chrome Soft.

The SD-05 Pro Feel is now in its second edition. It is designed to suit players with mid-to-slower swing speeds who still want plenty of spin and control into the greens. The ball is built with a soft rubber core, an ultra-thin DuPont HPF mantle, and a urethane cover. This three-piece construction is intended to combine feel with control while still maintaining distance for players who do not generate the highest swing speeds.

Overall, the Seed SD-05 is clearly not built to be the longest ball on the market, but it shines where most golfers need it most, in and around the greens. It offers excellent wedge spin, reliable iron numbers, and a soft feel off the putter. When you combine that with its very competitive price point, it becomes an outstanding option for the mid-swing speed golfer who wants urethane performance without the premium price tag.

If Seed had the marketing muscle of the biggest golf ball manufacturers, I think its name would be far more widely recognised. As it stands, the SD-05 is a bit of a hidden gem and a very credible alternative to the most established tour-level offerings.

Seed SD-01 Golf Ball

5 star review
best seed golf balls 2025

Reviewed by Jack Backhouse

I have always been under the belief that spin control is one of the key markers of a high-performance golf ball. The SD-01 certainly excels in this area. During my 50-yard wedge shots, it consistently produced spin rates averaging around 8000 RPM which is a gold-standard benchmark among premium tour-level golf balls that I have tested previously.

Feel around the greens is another strong suit. In my opinion, the soft urethane cover provides a soft feeling off the putter and wedges, closely mimicking the feedback of the Pro V1. Despite its lower price point, there is nothing budget about how this ball performs in the scoring zone.

Off the tee, the SD-01 continued to deliver solid results, although it did not quite reach the very top-end speeds of some competitors. I was able to post a ball speed of 159 mph with a carry distance of 273 yards and a total rollout of 293 yards. While slightly down on ball speed compared to the performance seen with the irons and wedges, the overall distance and control were still impressive and I think are more than adequate for most amateur golfers.

Overall, the Seed SD-01 is not just a budget alternative, I think it’s a legitimate contender in the premium golf ball market. From spin and feel to distance and control, it delivers everything a serious golfer could want. If you’re chasing tour-level performance without the tour-level price, the SD-01 deserves a place in your bag.

PROS

  • Outstanding spin and control
  • Soft urethane cover offers excellent feel around the greens
  • Excellent value for money, especially in bulk

CONS

  • Slightly lower ball speed off the driver compared to top-tier models

Seed SD-02 Golf Ball

5 star review
best seed golf balls 2025

They certainly look the real deal. Seed doesn’t seem to have cut any corners when it comes to the looks and finish. Often when you pick up a cheaper golf ball, it doesn’t look right. The finish doesn’t allow the ball to sit nicely and the text looks cheap.

I actually found that this golf ball flew quite high off the tee. The launch angle was down but the peak height was up. The ball flew considerably higher than I thought it might. This is something that I was happy to see off my driver face as I needed a bit more height with my drives.

In comparison to the other tour Seed golf ball, the SD-01, I was able to squeeze more distance out of this. Coupled with this, the dispersion from front to back was still tight, so it really was a strong performing ball of the tee.

Overall, I was impressed with the performance of the Seed SD-02 golf ball. They really make you beg the question why us club golfers would go and spend over £40 on a box of golf balls. Seed has produced a golf ball that really isn’t far off the mark of some tour-preferred golf balls for half the price.

PROS

  • Very strong distances off the tee
  • Promotes quick ball speeds
  • Sounds fast of the club face

CONS

  • None

Seed SD-X1 Golf Ball

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine
best seed golf balls 2025

The first thing that stood out to me was the feel. Off the putter face and wedges, the Seed SD-X1 offers a soft, responsive sensation that I think players who favour feedback will appreciate. It doesn’t feel mushy like some other budget golf balls. In fact, I found there’s still a satisfying ‘click’ on well-struck putts and a confidence-inspiring sound at impact with full wedges. Compared to the Titleist Pro V1, it’s just a shade firmer, but the difference is subtle enough not to be off-putting.

Distance off the tee was competitive. My ball speeds were nearly identical to those produced by more expensive counterparts. The SD-X1 launched with a mid-high trajectory and, during my testing, displayed excellent stability in the wind, keeping its line impressively well. It’s not the lowest spinning driver ball, so higher swing speed players might see marginally more movement—but it’s not enough to cause concern.

Overall, the Seed SD-X1 might not unseat the Pro V1 or TP5 for elite amateurs, but it doesn’t need to. For most golfers, especially those who want premium feel and performance without draining the wallet, the SD-X1 is more than capable. It’s a golf ball that delivers where it matters, distance, feel, and durability all at a price that feels almost too good to be true.

PROS

  • Outstanding value
  • Strong all-round performance
  • Soft feel with good control

CONS

  • Slightly less greenside spin than top-tier balls
