US Open betting: Who will win the latest Battle of Brookline?
After a week shrouded in the new and controversial, the US Open is a welcome return to tradition. The ever-present anticipation around major championship golf is a timely reminder of everything we enjoy about the game, and with a strong field on show I am sure it will be another classic. I have analysed the runners and riders, and I have four US Open betting tips ranging from 14/1 all the way to 200s. But before I reveal who I fancy this week…
US Open details
Venue: The Country Club, Brookline, Massachusetts
Date: June 16-19, 2022
Course stats: Par 70; 7,254 yards
Course summary: As expected, this is going to be a real test for players. The standard set-up in US Open golf that we have become accustomed too is certainly in place at Brookline, with perilous rough and very small greens. With tight target areas, and hazards waiting to punish wayward efforts, there will certainly be a premium on accuracy and creative scrambling around the greens.
Purse: $12.5 million
Defending champion: Jon Rahm (-6)

US Open betting tips
Before we get to Bazza’s Banker, let’s start with some outsiders…
The Why Not: Ryan Fox @ 200/1 with Bet365
Not only are you getting great form and strong statistical trends, but you’re also getting a humongous price.
Fox has been dazzling on the DP World Tour recently, with a win, two runner-up, and two top-10 finishes in his last seven events. That kind of form is ludicrous, so when you consider the fact he is a long and consistent striker off the tee I cannot resist a speculative flutter.
After making the cut at the PGA Championship last month, he can use that recent major experience to give himself the confidence to sneak into the places, so a small stakes each-way bet certainly looks appealing.
The Long Shot: Sungjae Im @ 60/1 with Bet365
A return to form for Im appears to have come just at the right time, and with his undoubted talent this price looks far too big in my opinion.
Im was 10th at Memorial, on another tricky track, and while he hasn’t won this year, he was 8th at the Masters in his last major championship appearance.
The South Korean currently ranks 14th for SG: Off-the-Tee and 19th for SG: Tee-to-Green, so certainly has the iron play to navigate his way around this venue. Creative and strong play around-the-greens will also help his chances, with a very strong charge expected if he can get the putter on side.
The Each-Way Play: Max Homa @ 55/1 with Bet365
Homa is the sort of player who regularly goes under the radar, but do not underestimate his chance to win a first major championship this weekend.
Recent form tells us that Homa is right up there with the best, with a win at the Wells Fargo and a T5 finish at Memorial in his last four events. Those tracks are also challenging, so this experience should not be totally alien for a player with three wins in the last two seasons.
Homa currently ranks 24th for SG: Off-the-Tee and SG Tee-to-Green, while also ranking 12th for SG: Approach and 18th for SG: Putting.
That level of consistency, partnered with his terrific recent form, make this an appealing each-way price when you consider he was 13th in his last major outing last month.
