Holing those three-footers

The Ryder Cup star on his keys to holing out

Head still

The two main things I concentrate on when facing a nervy little putt is to stay as still as possible over the ball – notice how my head has hardly moved in the picture opposite. I also try to focus hard on my rhythm.

Left then right

I like to take my grip first by placing my left hand on the club and then locking it in place with the right.

Back and through

From there it just a case of rocking the shoulders back and forth and your hands will respond with a smooth stroke. Finally think of the ball just getting in the way rather than trying to hit it.
