Hole more short putts by forgetting about your stroke
European tour mind coach Karl Morris has a great tip to help you hole more short putts without having to worry about your stroke
In this episode mind coach Karl Morris talks you through why taking your mind off the stroke will help you hole more short putts.
In this series as a whole, you will be asked to consider the ‘art of putting’. This will involve ensuring that your mind is in the best place to allow your putting stroke to come out on a more natural basis. The ultimate aim of the series is to help you to hole more putts, shoot lower scores and have more fun on the golf course.
Ask yourself what does the ball need to do to go in the hole. Don’t worry about your technique or the stroke itself. Set your attention firmly on the present and think about this putt only.
Don’t think about what the putt means in terms of your round, just make sure your sole purpose is to keep your attention on the present and what the ball needs to do.
In answer to the question what does the ball need to do to go in the hole, your brain has formed an image of what the ball needs to do.
Because of that image your body then organised the movements required to make that happen.
