Introducing Rick Shiels’ Edition Biom C4
He’s one of golf’s biggest YouTubers, and now he’s teamed up with ECCO to create a stunning shoe…
Ecco has collaborated with Rick Shiels for a limited-edition spin on the Biom C4, his self-professed favourite golf shoe. With only 500 pairs available, this will surely be a sought after shoe this season and is available from the Ecco website.
Ecco x Rick Shiels Edition Biom C4: First Impressions
Rick Shiels’ edition of the Biom C4 shoe, takes on Shiels’ own colour palette. Much of the shoe assumes white. However, a splash of red on the tongue and sole, as well as the black laces, allows this edition to reflect Shiels’ own style. Personally, I like this combination as it makes it more personal to Shiels.
His logo is also emblazoned on the heel and the tongue. But do not fear, the key properties of the original design are not lost, due to these changes.
Ecco x Rick Shiel Biom C4 review: The technology
Despite some aesthetic changes, this edition retains the same functionality as the regular Biom C4. This edition retains the 360-degree breathability and waterproofing provided by the GORE-TEX SURROUND construction which is combined with the ECCO EXHAUST-GRID which enables air ventilation towards the sole of the foot.
It is these features which make the original Biom C4 Shiels’ golf shoe of choice and so it is no surprise that these elements have been retained for his collaboration with Ecco.
However, there have been some changes made. A new super stretchy mesh sock hybrid is set in the progressive ECCO MTN FRIP outsole and is powered by BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology. When combined with the premium yak leather used for Ecco shoe, this makes for a lightweight and breathable shoe.
The changes made for this collaboration certainly do not comprise the comfort or performance of the original Biom C4.
Only 500 pairs of Shiels’ collaboration will be released so be quick if you want to secure your own pair. The Ecco x Rick Shiels edition of the Biom C4 will be released on the 26th April.
Available from ECCO and will set you back £200.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…
Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.
He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.
Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…
Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
