Lawrie marks 50 years of Wilson Staff
Wilson Staff celebrate their 50-year anniversary in Irvine
Wilson Staff has this week celebrated its 50th anniversary at the new Wilson Golf Competency Centre in Irvine.
The anniversary was marked by 1999 Open Champion and current world-number-29 Paul Lawrie, who uses Wilson Staff FG Tour irons and wedges on the European Tour.
Originally Europe’s largest golf club manufacturing plant, the Irvine facility now produces more than 70,000 custom fitted golf clubs every year.
The manufacturer boasts the record of having more major victories (61) than any other brand, and Lawrie was quick to comment on the impact that the Irvine centre had made on this, stating that: "a number of brilliant clubs have come out of this centre that have helped produce eight major titles in the last 20 years."
