Qatar Masters betting tips – who wins in Doha this week?

The DP World Tour returns to Doha, but who are our tips for betting on the Qatar Masters…?

The DP World Tour moves back to the Middle East with the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters this week but who are our betting tips for glory?

It was not a low-scoring week at Doha Golf Club in 2022, with Ewen Ferguson winning the event with a score of just seven-under-par.

However, scores at Doha have been as low as a 268 aggregate, achieved by both Australia’s Adam Scott and Scotland’s Paul Lawrie.

Scott and Lawrie, along with South African Branden Grace, are the only men to have won this tournament on multiple occasions. Can a previous winner join them this week?

What tips are we giving for you to be betting on the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters? Matt Coles takes a look at some of the contenders in Doha here…

Thorbjorn Olesen @ 20/1 with bet365

Thorbjorn Olesen Qatar Masters betting tips

Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen has been on my radar for a few weeks now, and has four top-15 results in his last 12 tournaments.

One of those came last week at the Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters, where he came home in a tie for 9th.

At the start of the season, the Dane had a run of four top-6 finishes in five events, including at the Thailand Classic.

At 20/1, Olesen is second-favourite to win the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, and this might be the perfect week for his second win of 2023.

Ewen Ferguson @ 28/1 with bet365

He’s the defending champion, so we have to include Ewen Ferguson in our betting tips for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters this week.

Ewen Ferguson

He is also in good form, with T9 and T13 finishes in the last two weeks on Spanish soil.

At 28/1, the Scot is a good bet to go back-to-back, and become just the fourth man to win this event on multiple occasions.

Best of the rest…

Matt Wallace: The Englishman has been in good form in 2023, with a win and a few other top-ten finishes to his name.

Wallace is 30/1 to grab his second victory of the year and his first on the DP World Tour since 2018.

Eddie Pepperell: I have picked Eddie a few times over the last couple of months, and it has been good to see the Englishman finding some form after a tough period in his life.

Pepperell is 45/1 to take the title this week in Doha, and a change in conditions could see the Englishman make his way back into the winners’ circle.

Chase Hanna: We saw pure emotion from Chase Hanna after his top-five finish at the Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters last week.

That performance may have secured his DP World Tour card for 2024. He finished runner-up in Doha last year, and this could be the week where the American secures a first professional victory. Hanna is 80/1 to take the title.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
